How to Make Your Website Design Great?

And the tricks to make it look good?

1. Keep it simple

Yes, everyone wants to show off their web designing skills, but keep in mind that your primary purpose is to drive traffic and gain customers. If you confuse your customer with an elaborate website, don’t expect them to go back or even stay on your page for more than a second.

2. Use your brand palette

Too many colors are distracting and can cause a headache. To have a nicely done website that actually goes well with your social media pages and blog, use only the brand colors. Everywhere. In the case of a color choice, repetition is great!

3. Limit the coolness

Animation effects are a great thing, but use them very scarcely and wisely. First in your mind should be the speed of your website, and effects are definitely not helping it. If you want to use a transition to make your website look better, that’s fine, but don’t over do it.

4. Make your text stand out

If you have something important to say, write it and show it. By using bold and italics, you can lead your customer right where you want him or her to be. But as with using effects, make sure that you are only highlighting the most important words or phrases. Would you use a yellow marker to highlight a whole book?

5. Content, content, content

Repeated over and over, content is the key to being found. Write in a way to make a quality article that serves your purpose. In case of web design, choose text over images. Although pictures are great at supporting your cause, text should be the driving force. Remember that if for some reason your pictures cannot display, you still have to be able to keep it together. Plus, search engines don’t view images as people do, so keep on typing.

6. Page as a paragraph

When writing an essay, the rule is to talk about one topic or supporting evidence per paragraph. Web design is no different, except that instead of a paragraph, limit one topic per page. Make sure you link those pages together, so both people and spiders can access anything from everywhere.

7. Multimedia ownership

It would not be good to have a great website, but get in trouble for stealing someone else’s work. Always make sure everything you put on your website is unique – not just your content, but also your pictures, videos and any other kind of medium; or that you have the rights to use it.

8. Desktop, mobile, both?

Make your website accessible from any device. The times of desktop as a leader are long gone and so creating your website means making it responsive to different kinds of devices.

Good luck with designing your website!
